EU might let cars exceed pollution limits

Car makers might be allowed to exceed previous pollution limits by 50% under draft EU laws, reports The Guardian newspaper. The draft regulation is still being discussed by EU member states with a final decision expected on 7 December. Campaigners say that a simple €25 filter could drastically cut the pollution. Potential deal comes despite VW scandal, in which the German firm, and others, cheated on emissions tests.
