Finland sees drop in asylum seekers

The number of asylum applicants in Finland dropped from 32,500 in 2015 to 5,200 last year, its immigration service has said. Most of them came from Iraq, Afghanistan, or Syria. It said it rejected half of last year's applicants. The falling numbers came after the EU and Turkey agreed to halt migrants coming via Greece to the EU.

A committee resolution said the proposal to renew the glyphosate permit for a decade "fails to ensure a high level of protection of both human and animal health and the environment".
