US arrests VW executive over diesel emissions fraud

Oliver Schmidt, a Volkswagen manager in charge of the German carmaker's environmental and engineering office in Michigan, was arrested in Florida on Monday and charged with fraud and conspiracy. He is accused of having covered up the existence of devices installed on diesel cars to cheat emission tests between 2006 and 2015. VW is trying to reach a $3 billion settlement with US authorities over the case.
