By EUobserver
While most euro-countries struggle to meet EU budget requirements, Germany has produced a record annual surplus of €23.7 billion for 2016, the National Statistics Office (Destatis) reported on Thursday. It is the highest German surplus recorded since the reunification in 1990. According to the country's central bank, the Bundesbank, the economy is set to expand further in the first quarter of 2017.
