Romania and Slovenia taken to court over environment policies

The European Commission on Thursday (27 April) announced that it is referring Romania and Slovenia to the European Court of Justice for not applying EU environmental rules. The commission said Romanian authorities "failed to review and update their national waste management plan and waste prevention programme", while Slovenia should have closed 28 illegal landfills, "which represent a serious risk for human health and the environment".
