New Bulgarian EU commissioner to be in charge of digital issues

European Commission president Jean-Claude Juncker sent a mission letter on Tuesday to Mariya Gabriel, the new commissioner named by Bulgaria, to assign her with the digital economy and society portfolio. A hearing by MEPs will now have to be organised before Gabriel's nomination is formally confirmed.
