Polish logging worsens EU rule of law row

Poland's logging of trees in the Bialowierza forest in defiance of an EU court order could help it face sanctions, the European Commission has said. A spokeswoman said if satellite data confirmed press reports of logging the Commission would take note of the violation in its "rule of law procedure", which was triggered over alleged judicial meddling and which could see Poland lose voting rights in the EU Council.
