EU parliament to claw back €617,000 from eurosceptic group

The Alliance of Conservatives and Reformists in Europe (ACRE), a conservative and eurosceptic party linked to the third biggest political group, the ECR, has to return €617,000 to the European Parliament, Dutch newspaper NRC Handelsblad reported on Wednesday. The EU parliament wants the money back because it had been used to fund events promoting national parties, which is not allowed under the rules on subsidies.
