Merkel: rule of law in Turkey going 'in wrong direction'

German chancellor Angela Merkel said on Thursday the developments in Turkey's rule of law were "moving in the wrong direction." Merkel said she had "great concerns" over Turkey, which is why she had requested the issue to be put on the agenda of this week's EU summit. Merkel added the EU should have a "united" position towards Turkey, with which it has a deal to stem migratory flows.
