MEPs vote to trigger Article 7 against Poland

MEPs on Wednesday (15 November) voted to trigger the first phase of Article 7 procedures (which sanctions member states if they systematically break EU rules or values) against Poland, over rule of law concerns. 438 MEPs voted in favour, while 152 MEPs were against the resolution, which calls on the Parliament's civil liberties committee to first compile a report on Poland to be voted on in plenary later.
