Trump moves to appoint new ambassador to EU

The Trump administration is moving to fill the long-vacant post of US ambassador to the European Union, reports the Washington Post. Washington has asked the EU if co-founder and chief executive officer of Provenance Hotel Partners, Gordon Sondland, would be an acceptable nominee. Sondland donated $1m to Trump's inaugural committee. The job that has been vacant since Anthony L. Gardner left it in January 2017.
