EU commission to publish Brexit 'preparedness' plans

The European Commission is set to publish Brexit preparedness measures on Wednesday (19 December). According to president Jean-Claude Juncker's spokesman the measures are meant for the EU to be "prepared for all scenarios". Running close to Christmas and new year holidays, the time frame for approval by the parliament and the council of any arrangements to follow Brexit on 29 March 2019 is running short.

Italian central banker Piero Cipollone in his first monetary policy speech since joining the ECB's board in November, said that the bank should be ready to "swiftly dial back our restrictive monetary policy stance."
