Hungary and Slovakia strain EU line on Jerusalem
By EUobserver
Hungary and Slovakia have promised to open new missions in Jerusalem, joining Bulgaria and the Czech Republic in doing so. Hungary's will be a trade office, while Slovakia's will be a cultural centre. The steps fall short of moving their embassies there from Tel Aviv, as the US did, but go against the spirit of the EU line the city should be shared between Israel and a future Palestinian state.
