Swiss Green parties celebrate 'tectonic shift'

Switzerland's Green Party, which had never won a seat in the Swiss Federal Council, gained strong support in Sunday's elections (13.2 percent), while the far right lost ground, Reuters reports. The far-right People's Party got 25.6 percent compared to the 29.4 percent in 2015. The Green Liberals also gained ground, taking 7.8 percent of the seats. The results marked "a tectonic shift", said Green Party president Regula Rytz.
