Venezuela regime invites EU election monitors

The EU is to send over 100 election monitors to a regional vote in Venezuela on 21 November after being invited to do so by the country's National Electoral Council, in a sign of potential detente between the Venezuelan regime and Europe. "An unprecedented electoral process will take place ... to elect more than 3,000 regional and municipal representatives in Venezuela," the EU foreign service said in a statement.
