WHO: Europe entering pandemic 'endgame'

Hans Kluge, the World Health Organisation's Europe director, told AFP on Sunday that the continent is nearing the end of the pandemic due to vaccinations and growing natural immunity. "It's plausible the region is moving towards a kind of pandemic endgame," he said. "There'll be a period of quiet before Covid-19 may come back towards the end of the year, but not necessarily the pandemic coming back," he added.

Orbán's new state of emergency under fire

Hungary's premier Viktor Orbán declared a state of emergency due to the war in neighbouring Ukraine hours after pushing a constitutional amendment through parliament, where two-thirds of MPs are controlled by his Fidesz party, allowing his government special powers.
