EU experts call for 'amber' label on green energy rules

The Platform on Sustainable Finance, an advisory group to the EU Commission, has questioned the legality of including natural gas and nuclear into the so-called EU taxonomy, according to the group recommendations released on Monday. The expert group of 57 members and 11 observers called for the creation of an "amber" zone, to include more-polluting activities which are below the "do no significant harm" threshold.

EU Modernisation Fund: an open door for fossil gas in Romania

Among the largest sources of financing for energy transition of central and eastern European countries, the €60bn Modernisation Fund remains far from the public eye. And perhaps that's one reason it is often used for financing fossil gas projects.

Italian central banker Piero Cipollone in his first monetary policy speech since joining the ECB's board in November, said that the bank should be ready to "swiftly dial back our restrictive monetary policy stance."
