German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder, beginning a three-day visit to China today (1 December), has spoken in favour of ending the EU’s arms embargo on China.
Speaking on Monday to the Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao, Mr Schröder promised to push inside the EU for an end to the embargo, which is the last remaining sanction on China after the Tiananmen Square massacre, 14 years ago.
