Tuesday is set to be tough for Monetary Commissioner Pedro Solbes, who is to appear before the European Parliament’s Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee to discuss last week’s decision not to fine Germany and France - despite the fact that the two economic heavyweights broke the rules underpinning the euro.
Mr Solbes will also appear before the Budgetary Control Committee, which is continuing its enquiries into the Eurostat fraud case on Tuesday.
