EU asked to do more to end Darfur violence

The EU has been called upon to do more to stop violence in Sudan's western region of Darfur which is experiencing renewed fighting and a deepening humanitarian crisis.

Both UK prime minister Tony Blair and European Commission president Jose Manuel Barroso made statements urging more action on Sunday (17 September) to coincide with an international day of solidarity with Darfur.
