Three nominations were shortlisted this morning for the Sakharov Prize for Freedom of Thought, awarded by the European Parliament in December each year.
A compromise was reached to include a number of proposals in one nomination, which includes the UN Secretary General Kofi Annan and all the UN staff with special recognition to Sergio Vieira de Mello. The large political groups are expected to support this arrangement.
