The European Commission on Wednesday (6 July) kick-started a process that could see Belarus expelled from the EU's General System of Preferences (GSP), effectively cutting off trade links with the eastern European country.
The commission asked the GSP committee to launch a monitoring process on Minsk's compliance with International Labour Organisation (ILO) conventions on trade unions.
Under the GSP process, Belarus now has six to eight months to begin implementing ILO standards...
