MEPs on Tuesday (17 January) urged Germany to take action against trafficking of women and forced prostitution during the football world championship in July, expected to attract not only football supporters but also traffickers of human beings for the purpose of sexual exploitation.
With 622 votes in favour and 12 against - 11 men and one woman - MEPs adopted a report by Austrian socialist MEP Christa Prets presenting strategies to prevent trafficking of women and children.
