Report calls for move to direct democracy

A report released on Thursday from the Initiative and Referendum Institute Europe (IRI), a pan-European think thank, has called on the European Union and the governments of Member States to increase democratic participation in order to rectify the so-called 'democracy deficit' of the EU.
