Foreign ministers might hold special Turkey meeting

With the deadline for opening entry talks with Turkey fast approaching, member states' ambassadors on Wednesday again failed to reach agreement on an EU counter-statement on Cyprus, necessary for the talks to kick off.

The Cypriot government had already declared on Tuesday (13 September) that it could not accept a UK-French deal on an EU counter-declaration, adding that Cyprus had "not been implicated" in the compromise.
