Brussels warns UK over Sellafield nuclear material

The European Commission has warned the UK government that its Sellafield nuclear plant is in breach of EU rules securing the peaceful use of nuclear fuel.

Brussels on Wednesday (15 February) told London that accounting standards at the plant do not meet the rules of the 1957 Euratom Treaty, which allows EU inspectors to check standards on the spot.
