Brussels to tackle roaming costs

The European Commission is set to clampdown on excessive roaming costs, the rates for calls on mobiles while abroad.

According to German weekly magazine Focus, EU telecoms commissioner Viviane Reding said she "will put forward legislation which will end roaming costs."

"Business people should not be punished for crossing borders," she added.

At a summit in Brussels last week, EU leaders strongly backed Mrs Reding in her attempts to tackle roaming costs.
