The EU finance ministers met on Tuesday in Luxembourg to agree whether France should face the threat of sanctions due to its failure to comply with EU budget rules for a third consecutive year.
Quoting diplomats, the Financial Times reported that France will have to be given until 2005 to comply with the rules.
