The German finance minister is under pressure over his country's budget deficit figures which are now being dubbed the "Horrorzahlen" - horror figures - and may yet cause the European Commission to take action against Germany.
The level of Germany's deficit is set to be 42bn euro this year - around four percent of GDP - thus breaking the post-war record of 1996.
