Palestinian vote could see Hamas entering government

Palestinians are electing a new parliament on Wednesday, with MEPs monitoring a vote which could see huge gains for the Islamist Hamas movement, branded by the EU as a terrorist organisation.

At stake are seats in the 132-member Palestinian Legislative Council, which Palestinians can democratically elect for the first time in ten years amid tight security measures and heavy international monitoring.
