The result of the second round of the presidential elections in Romania on Sunday 12 December remains unclear.
According to Sunday night exit polls, prime minister Adrian Nastase and the mayor of Bucharest, Traian Basescu, are neck-and-neck.
Mr Nastase won the first round on 28 November by 41 percent to 34 percent. Since no candidate secured 50 percent of the vote, a second round was necessary.
