French farm position not helpful to EU, says Mandelson

The EU's trade commissioner Peter Mandelson has slammed Paris for its tough stance against farm liberalisation, ahead of important world trade negotiations starting in Hong Kong in a few weeks’ time.

"With its criticism, France has done no favour to itself or to the EU", Mr Mandelson said in an interview with German daily Berliner Zeitung.
