Turkey: Kurdish trial branded a farce

The retrial of a leading Kurdish dissident has been branded a farce and attacked as unfair by observers, just weeks before the EU gives its annual assessment of Turkey’s preparedness for EU membership.

The case of Sakarov prize winner, Leyla Zana, and three other Kurdish dissenters was re-initiated earlier this year as part of Turkey’s attempts to gain EU membership, but is now coming under attack.
