Turkey and the long road to prosperity

Rather than consider how the EU can help Turkey's economy, Europeans should consider how Turkey can help them.

Opponents of Turkey's accession complain that Turkey is too poor and too populous and will "bring the EU down" economically.

Critics also argue that Turkey is economically unstable, that it has recently emerged from a deep economic crisis and that the EU should not import economic instability when it is economically weak itself.
