The EU has reiterated its calls for the closure of the US camp in Guantanamo Bay in the wake of the three prisoner suicides over the weekend.
"Guantanamo should be closed. This is an occasion to reiterate that statement," said EU's external relations commissioner Benita Ferrero-Waldner at a meeting of foreign ministers on Monday (12 June).
Meanwhile, the European Parliament on Tuesday adopted a resolution by an overwhelming majority calling for the camp's closure.
