Tension rises ahead of EU-monitored Congo election

Around 1,000 EU soldiers are in Congo ahead of Sunday's (30 June) elections, the first democratically-contested polls in the country in over four decades.

The French and German-led mission is in the vast African country to try and secure the elections but the force has a very limited mandate, with local tensions already rising before the weekend vote.
