A high-ranked legal advisor to the European Court of Justice (ECJ) has deemed that former education EU commissioner Edith Cresson is guilty of gross negligence and favouritism during her term in Brussels from 1995 to 1999.
ECJ advocate general Leendert Adrie Geelhoed on Thursday (23 February) announced that Ms Cresson's actions during her term at the commission merit a pecuniary sanction and suggested that the court deprive Ms Cresson of fifty percent of her pension rights.
