Local elections could detract from European issues

The head of the European Parliament's office in London, Dermot Scott, has warned that, whilst the turn-out of next year's European elections in the UK will almost certainly be higher than in 1999, there is a danger that the local elections, to be held on the same day, will detract from the real European issues.
