Member states stick by referendum plans

Several member states have continued to stick by their plans to have a referendum on the constitution despite Britain's decision on Monday to shelve its own plans for a public poll.

Speaking just after the British decision, Polish foreign minister Adam Rotfeld said "The French, Dutch or British cannot make the decision for us. We should decide for ourselves ... through a referendum.
