Eco-points problem raised in Copenhagen

The Copenhagen Summit made enlargement possible but also gave Austria the opportunity of forging a solution on the ongoing eco-point problem. The Commission had previously proposed that the eco-point system - whereby vehicles in transit through Austria would be subject to an eco tax - should be extended for a further two to three years beyond the end of the current agreement in 2003.
