The main points of the 2004 budget for the European Union were agreed Monday night (24 November) in Brussels in a meeting between the Council and the European Parliament, known as conciliation.
The ten new member states will benefit, among others, from 99,7 bn euro next year, as they will all participate in the EU aid and subsidies programmes - this includes the agricultural subsidies and the regional and structural funds.
