EUOBSERVER / BRUSSELS -The Turkish president has approved a package of democratic reforms designed to forward Turkey’s EU aspirations.
The package, which includes measures to curb the military’s influence, ensure better safeguards for freedom of speech and stamp out torture, was signed by President Ahmet Necdet Sezer on Thursday (7 August).
The President has vetoed previous legislative packages but is apparently comfortable with these measures which were approved by the Parliament...
