The Serbian Prime Minister, Zoran Djindjic has been murdered.
Initial reports indicate that at lunch time on Wednesday, Mr Djindjic was killed by a sniper in front of government offices in Belgrade.
Mr Djindjic's death is already being described as a major blow to reform in the Balkans. EU leaders have been quick to respond.
