Counterfeit and pirated goods are a rapidly growing problem in Europe with cigarettes, children’s toys and viagra topping the lists of seized goods in 2004, new figures show.
In total, 41 million packets of counterfeit cigarettes were seized last year at the EU's external borders and more than 18 million toys and games, the European Commission said on Tuesday (11 October).
There has also been a rapid rise in counterfeit pharmaceutical products.
