The Nice Treaty is "doomed" and the government should scrap its attempts to pass it a second time, one of Irelands most pro-European MEPs, Mary Banotti stated. Her comments were immediately dismissed by an official working with the Irish EU Commissioner, David Byrne as well as by the EP’s President, Pat Cox.
