FBI director offends Poland and Hungary with Holocaust comment

The director of the US intelligence service FBI James Comey has caused a diplomatic row between his country and Poland with comments on Polish and Hungarian complicity in the mass killings of Jews during the Second World War. Hungary has also protested against the comments he made.

After summoning the US ambassador in Warsaw, Poland demanded an official apology from the US on Monday (20 April).
