Belarus protestors swept away as EU considers sanctions

Riot police at 03:30 Minsk time on Friday (24 March) swept away remaining pro-democracy protestors from October Square, with EU leaders in Brussels considering tightening diplomatic sanctions against Belarus after fraudulent elections on Sunday.

Polish media report that seven to ten trucks containing SpecNaz riot police arrested the 300 remaining supporters in under 15 minutes with teams of cleaners following up to sweep away tents and debris from the central square.
