French government falls after no-confidence vote

The government of French prime minister Michel Barnier, one of the shortest-lived in recent history, collapsed on Wednesday (4 December) after a no-confidence vote in the parliament. 

A total of 331 out of 480 French MPs voted in favour of the no-confidence motion, forcing Barnier and his cabinet to step down.
