Germany meets European opposition in bid for UN seat

German Chancellor Gerhard Schröder has won the support of 13 Asian countries, including China, in Germany’s bid to win a permanent seat at the UN Security Council.

The draft conclusions of the two-day Asian European (ASEM) summit that ended in Hanoi on Saturday (9 October) were positive towards changes within the UN structure as supported by Germany.
