Latvian leaders join forces to support EU

Exactly a month before the national EU referendum, Latvian leaders declared their support for the country’s membership of the Union.

The first leader to do so was the Latvian president Vaira Vike-Freiberga. "For me Latvia’s accession to the EU is very important so that Latvia does not lose its speed of development", she told journalists last Friday (15 August).

Mrs Vike-Freiberga added, she is afraid that people might vote against EU membership on 20 September out of disappointm...
